I haven't updated in a while.

Paul's gone north, and I'm working the Grandstand show at the Stampede.

The show is all spectacle with no substance. The audience loves it, though. We got a standing ovation last night.

A standing ovation of FIFTEEN THOUSAND PEOPLE.

That's right.

The equivalent of the entire population of my hometown and then some gave us a standing ovation. It was mind boggling.

I've heard repeatedly that our crew is one of the best in recent memory (because, apparently, we're almost entirely people with theatre backgrounds, instead of film, or concert, so we're used to running shows and memorizing cues and stuff).

I dunno. It's a good crew. There's one sketchy seed (no names, but he's constantly late and kind of useless). There's a few guys that aren't 'problem solving' types, but at least provide raw power when it's needed.

Anyway, we must be doing well, because at dress rehearsal the director of the show came down to the stage to thank us in person (which is apparently unheard of).

Also, we didn't do any additional rehearsals at all (which also is apparently unheard of; previous years they've had to have last minute 14hr rehearsals).

Aaaalso the director has got us onstage at the end of the show for the final bow (which, apparently, is REALLY unheard of).

Also, yesterday the cast bought the crew beer (Canadian, which sucks, but it's better than no beer). Apparently that happens occasionally, but it's still nice.

On one hand, I wish we had more hours.

On the other hand, I'm glad we're pleasing the Powers That Be.

I'd rather do a good job than get more hours, honestly.

.

Rosie.
