And unexpected gift

I was sitting on the couch today, just sittin', eating orange peel (I suppose it's a bit of a bad habit), when my dad walks up to me looking vaguely spaced out as he usually does, hands in his pockets.

He pulled out a handful of change, keys, and handkerchief and squeezed a toonie from it and dropped it in my laps, daying:

"Here. I found this in the bottom of my pack. I thought you'd like it."

And wandered off, still looking vaguely vacant, and me laughing with delighted surprise.

He stopped at the door, turned around and grinned at me and said:

"Yeah, I didn't think you'd protest."

And wandered off.

Strange, I tell you.

But that's my father.
