I have not been sleeping well, so I decided to try gin tonight. It is circulating in my blood like acid, and yet, I still cannot sleep.

My roommate came home with a kitten. She is sleek and tiny and grey as a rainy day, with all the electric enthusiasm of a meth user. She is so small, she cannot fill the rotund hole in my heart where my old cat lived.

I like her, this new kitten. But the hole is so big and gaping and sore, that I'm not sure anything can fill it right now.

I'm going to try to sleep. I should have been asleep an hour ago.
