Rosie got some more stuff today! Material stuffs, good stuffs, happy stuffs.

Rosie and mommy and daddy and dorky little brother went to Castlegar today, to go to Fabricland, to get a head start on her prom dress.

There Rosie met her friend Brittie's mother, who is a professional seamstress, who eagerly helped her with picking material for her Tudor dress.

Rosie wanted puffed double layered sleeves, mommy wanted tight Elizabethan sleeves.

Mommy is paying, so mommy gets what she wants.

Rosie and Brittie's mother sift through materials and settle on a dark green short velvet and a gold brocade.

They quickly abandon the velvet, due to it's weight and heat (though Rosie really did like the material). Silk is suggested, and mommy likes this idea, so Rosie iis not complaining. After all, silk was more widely used in nobility clothing after the 12th century, and Rosie is shooting for about the 14th-16th century.

Mommy thinks Rosie is crazy, because of all the layers that is involved with the dress. The farthingale (hoop skirt), bum roll, under skirt, over skirt, bodice, sleeves and hopefully corset. Some parts are purposefully left out for style purposes.

Rosie hasn't gotten any silk yet. Hopefully it will be dark green. Pretty colour.

Rosie was made to go clothes shopping, too. It sucked. Rosie hates shopping for clothes, but Rosie scored this time.

Rosie got a wrap around cream, black and gold skirt that can be easily modified into an overskirt, and matches the lighter gold brocade Rosie's mother bought on a whim very well.

Rosie also got a kilt for five bucks, excellent condition, 100% wool. Should sell for at least ten dollars at a larger event.

And Rosie got a new jacket! Not black, unfortunately, but such a dark green it might as well be black. Long, thick, heavy wool that buttons up the front. I like it lots. $20. Good price.

Let's see...that's about the extent of Rosie's day, though she did chase Dylan and Robin down after she escaped the den of clothes...

Oh! Daddy bought Rosie some Harlequin romance novels so she can figure out whether she wants to try her hand at writing romance...I know, I know! Rosie, writing /romance/. Sickening, but there's a lot of money to be made in the business...and so long as Rosie gets published, she's happy...

Anyway, Rosie goes. Rosie has to do her chores, and get some food, and stuff. Maybe Laura will visit Rosie today, bring her some embroidery thread. Rosie would like that.

Ta!

.
